Pursuing a career in epidemiology fit Uyen Do’s interests, but it didn’t prepare her for the personal experience of becoming a breast cancer statistic. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. For Uyen, that diagnosis came just after her 31st birthday.

The Society of Oncoplastic Surgery (SOS) announced today it has named its first board of directors, following its recent move to become a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit with a mission of educating clinicians and the public at large about this multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive, compassionate cancer care.
