Biography

Dr. Gustavo Zucca-Matthes, MD, PhD, specializes in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery at the European Institute of Oncology. Formerly the Head of the Department of Breast Surgery at the Barretos Cancer Hospital, a major cancer center in Brazil, from 2014 to 2018, he founded and coordinated the Breast Oncoplastic Training Center and was responsible for the surgical education. Dr. Matthes contributes actively to the development of the MastoTrainer, a simulator for breast surgeries, and has a special interest in clinical research and promoting patient-centered oncology management. He is currently dedicated to his private practice and the creation of a “Life Center” focused on multidisciplinary treatment and quality of life, and is affiliated as a breast surgeon with Albert Einstein Hospital.

He has an extensive list of published scientific articles and book chapters, has  published three books, and developed a mobile app. He has served as Co-Director and Faculty of the School of Oncoplastic Surgery.
