Dr. Howard was born in Heidelberg, Germany and grew up in central Kentucky. After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1983, and completing his surgical residency at the University of Louisville Hospital in 1988, he moved to Paducah, Kentucky. In 2011, he joined Mercy Health where he continues to perform general surgery with a special interest in breast cancer surgery.
Dr. Howard is a leader in providing oncoplastic surgery to improve both cosmetic and oncologic outcomes for his patients. He uses many modalities, such as ultrasound and margin assessment during surgery, axillary reverse mapping, and intraoperative radiation therapy to ensure he is providing the best care for his patients. He has been involved with the School of Oncoplastic Surgery for many years as an attendee, and now as a Faculty member.
He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
